Bellzone
Exploration Program 2007-2008
underline

The objective of the Bellzone 2007 – 2008 exploration programme was to expand the knowledge of the Kalia Iron Mineralisation and to expand the exploration to assess any other potential iron bearing prospects. The programme involved;

  • Surface geology assessment and interpretation
  • Ground magnetic surveys
  • Exploration drilling both percussion (RC) and Diamond Core
  • Geological mapping
  • Site development of roads, tracks and drill pads to support the mapping, magnetic survey and drilling programmes

The field studies and data processing were carried out by the group of Bellzone geologists (5) and geophysicists (2);

  • Dr. V.N. Burmistrov - Chief Geologist
  • S.F. Savchik F - Geologist
  • E.A Sharov - Geologist
  • I.S. Hlushakou - Geologist
  • A.A. Sonchik - Geologist
  • Dr. S.V. Golobokov - Geophysicist
  • V. Ph. Moiseenko - Geophysicist

In addition three Guinean geologists, G. Keffas, M. Dialo and B. Santani, assisted with the geological field prospecting programme.

Four diamond and one reverse circulation (RC) drill rigs were used to conduct the drilling programme, which involved;

  • Shallow diamond and reverse circulation drilling of the Kalia I oxidised surface mineralisation
  • Deep diamond drilling of the central area of the Kalia II Bif iron mineralisation

Summary of Exploration Activities and Outputs for the 2007 – 2008 Exploration Season

The Kalia Iron Mineralisation has been identified over a strike of approximately 40km running from the north west to south east across the tenements. To facilitate exploration management and planning the Kalia mineralisation has been divided into two areas, Kalia I (a 19km strike starting in the north west of the tenement) and Kalia II (a 20km strike linking from the south eastern point of Kalia I and extending in an easterly direction)

Exploration drilling- Kalia I

  • 3,550.6m of diamond drilling to depths of up to 600m into primary BIF
  • 1,504.4m of diamond drilling of surface material to depths of between 30-100 m.
  • 780m of reverse Circulation drilling of surface material to depths of 30-70 m
